The book brings together the remarkable testimony of Bea’s mother, Gertrud Friedmann, with previously unseen photographs and documents from her life in wartime Slovakia.
Gertrud survived the Holocaust living under a false identity. After her death, Bea discovered the manuscript she had written about those years locked inside a drawer of her desk.
The book will publish Gertrud’s words alongside photographs from the period and the original postcard that inspired its title.
